Registration

Our classes run in seasonal sessions of approximately three months (Winter 2019=12 or 13 weeks). For the best learning experience, we encourage students to register for one weekly class (or more) and attend at that time consistently during the session.

Fees listed above are for the full 12- or 13-class session registration. Benefits of sessional registration: lowest price per class; access to 6:30 am Independent Practice; discount on drop-ins to additional classes; and a progressive, structured learning experience.

Missed Classes can be made up only within the same session, before April 7, 2019. Students are encouraged to make up classes with their regular teacher. If this is not possible, classes can be made up with other teachers in an appropriate level class.

Your Winter 2019 registration and any pre-purchased Winter drop-ins will expire on April 7, 2019. No Refunds.

Jan 19: Hop On the Padmasana Bus, with Sam Lloyd

Whether or not you get to the final destination, this trip around the hips has lots of great places to explore! Playfully investigate some of the routes into this dynamic seated pose. See how far you get and maybe surprise yourself.

Feb 16: Setting Up a Home Practice, with Linda Shevloff

Learn how to organize yourself to do a well-rounded yoga practice at home that supports what you have been learning in classes and helps you to integrate those lessons into your life. If you have any special needs that you would like addressed, please submit a question to Linda at The Yoga Space at least two weeks before the workshop date.

March 23: Lower Back Care, with Patricia Fernandes

As we age, habitual posture and repetitive movements can lead to lower back discomfort. This workshop will focus on how to integrate asanas into your practice that will support the health and function of the spine. Join us and explore postures that will improve the strength and flexibility of your back. All levels welcome.

Going Deeper

A monthly 3-hour class for students who are registered in weekly Iyengar yoga classes and who are interested in exploring the practice more deeply. Students need to be stable in sirsasana (headstand at wall acceptable) and sarvangasana (adapted shoulderstand acceptable). Fridays, Jan 11, Feb 8, Mar 1 at 1-4 pm, $35 each.

Basics of Yoga Philosophy

A drop-in discussion group in which Linda and students discuss ideas presented in the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, their relevance and purpose, and how these texts relate to us today. Linda will present an aspect of the texts and will lead a discussion to provoke thinking and to clarify meaning. Saturdays, Jan 26, Feb 23, Mar 30 at 2:30-4:00 pm, $21 each.

Pranayama

is the study of the breath and the way it enhances our life force. All Iyengar yoga students work with the breath as an integral part of the body and its movement, and our teachers focus on breath studies on a regular basis. The weekly dedicated pranayama class (Thursday) is appropriate for students enrolled in any regular Iyengar yoga class who want to develop more breath awareness toward a pranayama practice.
